2nd year Dental Medicine student, Medical University of Varna
Like most students beginning their anatomy studies, Osman was struggling. His textbooks felt overwhelming, a sea of text and diagrams that lacked proper guidance or an intuitive way to learn. When Kenhub was recommended to him, he felt he had nothing to lose.
After using the quizzes and videos at Kenhub, Osman is finally feeling more confident about anatomy. As he says: “Don’t give up! Everything links together eventually. You might feel like your mind is a sieve at the moment, but it will all click together in time.”
We caught up with Osman to learn why Kenhub has been so helpful for him. Here’s his story.
Kenhub was recommended to me by the study abroad agency who helped me join the medical course at my university. I experienced some problems with the anatomy course so I turned to them for help. They suggested Kenhub since some of their other students had already given very positive feedback about it.
Kenhub’s videos about anatomy and histology are a great introduction to anatomy. The greatest benefit of the videos is that they have both the Latin and English anatomical names of body parts. This saves me so much time as I don’t have to flick through an English and Latin anatomy atlas!
The videos show each part of the body in a precise, clear way, bit by bit, instead of being overwhelmed with a sea of text and diagrams as is the norm with textbooks. This then helps me visualise the body part. It’s a million times easier using a clinical anatomy book afterwards.
Just the sheer volume of how much you must learn in anatomy. Kenhub has helped me organise the body into chunks that I can revise from. Like I mentioned before, looking at an atlas/textbook and revising from that is virtually impossible for me with all that information on one page.
Looking at textbooks without any prior knowledge of the subject leaves me overwhelmed by the amount of information on the page. Diagrams consist of small pictures and tens of labels coming out of them. With Kenhub, the videos split every part of the body into small sections and go through them one by one so I can learn it bit by bit without feeling lost.
Textbooks are also very heavy to carry around. If I have a small break between lessons, I can instead simply take out my phone or laptop, open Kenhub and do a quick quiz or look over the atlas. This makes my learning more efficient because I can also do it on the go.
Currently, the most valuable section of Kenhub is medical imaging! It gives me a clinical view that I will not be able to see in practice for a few years - so looking at it now gives me a head start! But I think Kenhub in its entirety is valuable to me - cheesy, I know.
For example, the histology quizzes help me recognise types and layers of tissues with their highlighting which would’ve taken me ages with a standard textbook. The anatomy section helps me learn about the body in quick and concise parts.
My typical anatomy study sessions consist of me watching the Kenhub videos with the amazing voice-overs, then testing myself using the quiz to find my weakest areas. After that, I look at the atlas for further revision and to cement my knowledge.
Don’t give up - it will all make sense! Everything links together eventually. You might feel like your mind is a sieve at the moment, but it will all click together in time!
Osman is now working for MedLink , the agency which aided him in his entry to dental medicine.
