Christina Loukopoulou, MD, MSc

Medical Content

Christina is a Clinical Anatomist by training, with a distinguished background that bridges medicine, anatomical sciences, and medical education. She began her academic journey studying Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she developed a strong interest in the structural and functional basis of the human body. Her passion for anatomy led her to further specialise, earning a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (Anatomy) from the University of Aberdeen and an MSc in Human Anatomy. She later conducted postgraduate research in orthopaedics and tissue engineering at The University of Edinburgh, focusing on innovative approaches to clinical application and tissue regeneration.

Committed to teaching excellence and lifelong learning, Christina also holds a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Academic Practice from The University of Edinburgh, which she has used to refine her evidence-based, student-centred approach to anatomy education. She is particularly passionate about clinical and surgical anatomy, combining traditional dissection-based teaching with modern visual and digital tools to enhance learning.

Christina is currently affiliated with the University of Crete, where she conducts clinical research on colon cancer and teaches in the International Program in Medicine. Alongside her academic commitments, which she pursues in her own time, she works full-time as the Interim Manager of the Medical Illustrations Team at Kenhub, merging her anatomical expertise with her passion for medical education and visual learning.
